To operate your store and donation portal, splitShops works with Stripe to process payments and Givinga Foundation, our platform charity.
Why does splitShops work with Givinga?
What are the transaction fees on donations from products purchased in your store?
Stripe fee: 2.2% +30¢ plus Givinga Fee: 2%
To activate your store and donation portal, you must have a Givinga ID and sign up to receive payments electronically from Givinga Foundation:
https://charitytools.givingafoundation.app/register
After you have been approved and been assigned a Givinga ID, please let us know your Givinga ID and that Givinga ePay is set up so we can get confirmation from Givinga and make your store live.
Donations made through Givinga will result in a donation acknowledgement letter from Givinga to your donors.
Set up donations through your organization's Donation Portal.
To minimize or eliminate transaction fees and maximize the donation your organization receives from your donation portal, we suggest your organization set up several payment processors that have low or no fees. This also gives your donors several options of how to make a donation. splitShops does not earn a penny from donations meant for your organization. But we do help you collect them.
Fortunately there are organizations that process payments for donations free or close to it.

Zelle charges no fees to transfer funds, over 1800 banks and credit unions use it and they transfer funds instantly, so we highly recommend using their service to collect donations. The process below is a little clunky because of the intricacies of how Zelle works, but because of the size of their network and the fact that there are no fees, it is worth the one-time hassle. Donations are subject to your bank and Zelle's terms.
To make this work, we need to get your organization's QR Code for Zelle payments. Every bank has Zelle set up differently so there is no easy way to describe how to get an image of your organization's Zelle QR Code.
- Log into your organization's online bank account. For access to your QR code, some banks require use of their mobile banking app, others allow you to use their website.
- Find Zelle.
- Look for a button that might say, "Request Money," "Manage Recipients," "Your Zelle QR Code" or simply "Your Code." There could be any number of variations on these examples.
- Ultimately, if you can get your Zelle QR Code on your screen, you can take a screenshot of it or email it to yourself. As long as you get an image file that has your Zelle QR Code, that is sufficient. A screenshot of your QR Code might look similar to this:
Because every bank is set up differently, it might be helpful to call your bank for help getting an image of your QR Code. - Next, you must be logged in to splitShops and be an administrator for your Organization.
- Once you are logged in, visit the settings page and click the pencil next to Donation Links.
- Take the image file of your organization's QR Code, and upload it in the section that says Zelle QR Code. We will process the image so your personal information will be removed by creating a new QR Code that enables your donors to donate directly to your Zelle account.
- After the QR Code is uploaded, visit your organization's donation's page by clicking on the top of the page.
- Click on your Donation page, accept the terms and click . A new page should open up with a QR Code.
- Open your mobile banking app and go to Zelle within your mobile banking app (Do NOT use your camera like you would for a normal QR Code) and scan this QR Code to confirm that it sends money to your organization through Zelle.
- This QR Code looks different from the one you uploaded, but it will direct donations to your organization through your organization's Zelle account. We use a different QR Code so we can update your organization's donations list.
Donations made through Zelle will not result in a donation acknowledgement letter to your donors.
